Physical health and your mental wellbeing are intrinsically linked. Exercise, of almost any variety is proven to boost endorphins. I am a huge proponent of exercise, because I truly believe that working out teaches you lessons like perseverance and discipline; it builds grit and resilience which is key for all people, but especially for entrepreneurs. When I came across Oxefit on my weekly hunt for unique industry-disrupting companies, I was so excited to learn about them. Co-Founder and CEO Rab Shanebleh is incredibly passionate about fitness and democratizing access to the highest quality of fitness training. Their combined use of AI and robotics to create an all-in-one exercise machine will shake the fitness industry to its core, but moreover, Rab hopes that it will help an overlooked demographic in the industry fall in love with being fit.
Oxefit was born in 2019 when Rab synchronistically ran into his friend, Dr. Peter Neuhaus. Through their shared love of fitness and desire to create a wellness lifestyle brand, they launched Oxefit as a way to make the highest form of fitness technology available to everyone. “Dr. Peter and I started discussing a fitness machine that should be simple and enjoyable to use — but offer all the options that can be found at a gym, and more.” Furthermore, both founders realized that there's a lack of quality information and feedback for training properly at home. Personally, as someone who spent years working with a personal trainer, for that reason exactly, I know how tough it can be to ensure correct form when you don't have a professional to coach and correct you. When it comes to training, safety has to be the first priority. Rab believes Oxefit can address this. “Not everyone's getting the proper education and tools to train or rehab safely. More so, elite trainers and pro-athletes were privy to information that other fitness fanatics weren’t.” So, this is where Oxefit's AI and robotics differentiates them from other fitness systems like Tonal or Peloton.
“It’s truly the only at-home fitness system that offers the same level of workouts you can get in professional training facilities... The reason I’ve been so keen on AI is so consumers are able to get personalized insights and coaching that lets them take control of their own personal journey to a healthier life. I wanted to push the boundaries of what’s possible when you have the right data and OxeFit does just this.”
Oxefit is a commercial smart gym and training system that provides the most intelligent and effective workout system for safely improving your performance. Real-time feedback and deep learning analysis provide a personalized, guided path to reach your fitness goals. Their “dynamic variable resistance training” means no dumbbells, barbells, cables, or weight plates. The Oxefit advanced robotic digital weight system allows users to quickly change and load weight at the push of a button. This feature personally excites me because the worst feeling after a heavy deadlift set is having to change out your plates. Furthermore, Oxefit uses force plate technology to identifies asymmetries and weight imbalances in real-time to improve your form with motion sensors and real-time machine learning.
Right now, Oxefit offers two different versions of their smart gym. The XP1 and the XS1. The XP1 is for multi-athlete professional use in rehab facilities, and large commercial athlete spaces. Actually, how I discovered Oxefit was several players of the Dallas Cowboys invested in this company, along with a long list of other athletes like soccer player Harry Kane. Rab notes, “I have not paid any of my athletes a dime. Some were asked just to be part of the OxeFit personality and every single one ended up investing in the company. The List is growing larger and larger because I think they see how real this tech is.This is not another just gadget.” The XP1 was their first released product, followed by the more recent release of the XS1, which is for consumer use at home. This was interesting to me because, testing their product on the highest forms of athleticism meant that when they were ready to roll out to consumers, they had already received the best feedback.
The XS1 is the same great technology as XP1 and features the industry's first AI-enabled cardio, strength, and digital pilates training system in a single at-home workout experience. But it requires less floor space than the XP1 so it can fit more comfortably in the home. When the deck chair is folded, the width of the machine is only a foot and a half. My personal favorite aspect of this machine is the level of creativity you can accomplish with it. In an interview with Fitt Insider, Rab says that you can do rowers right into bicep curls without ever having to change the bar, or your position. Moreover, their weight resistance system can lend up to 500lbs. This is incredible. I workout at Equinox and for me to accomplish the same rowers to bicep curl movements, I would need to not only change machines, but also the bar I'm holding, and in San Francisco, likely the floor of the building. Having the freedom for this level of creativity is very interesting to someone who loves fitness and weightlifting.
Oxefit is showing the consumer fitness market what technology can do for them inside the home. I'm calling it now, in just a few years machines like this will become the norm. If I was building a house today, I would absolutely invest in a machine like this. I wouldn't have to pay for a gym, trainer, or pilates class, ever again. This is how Oxefit is disrupting the fitness industry. I am inspired by Rab and his desire to improve people's lives through convenient, smart, and data driven fitness lifestyles. He emphasizes to all of us to dream big, and when you do, the possibilities are endless. His advice to entrepreneurs,
“Surround yourself with people who challenge and motivate you — it’s important to be around like-minded individuals who will help you pursue your goals. This is equally important in both your professional and personal life. Don’t be hesitant when it comes time to commit and don’t be cautious about dreaming. Overall, innovation, determination, teamwork and focus are key to a technology startup’s success.”
